Why do women do this?

I was watching a show where a woman was about to see her daughter in a wedding dress for the very first time! She smiled BIG, but sort of clenched her teeth and tucked her chin in. She clearly was joyful, but a part of her seemed to be bracing for the joy she was about to feel.

It got me thinking about things we do when we’re about to experience something wonderful, something delicious. We may smile through clenched teeth like the mother of the bride, or bring our hands to our face like I’ve seen in a hundred proposal videos. Maybe we create a tiny space when someone goes in for a full bear hug. Stuff like that.

This sort of physicality dampens our joy. Clenching, covering, tensing, bracing, creating a gap - all are ways we block ourselves from fully receiving that deliciousness. And most of us didn’t start out that way. We were more like this:

We were open, expansive, unblocked - soaking joy into every cell of our being.

So how and why did we develop these tendencies? Perhaps it was caused by some type of trauma, societal programming, feelings of unworthiness, or maybe you’re an Empath or a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) like I am (check out my Am I a Sensitive? quiz) and too much feeling can be overwhelming.

Regardless of the driving force, we CAN 💯% find modalities that help us open up to fully receiving more of the good, juicy stuff! And every single one of my services* can be transformational in helping you to finally remove any blocks to joy, peace, love, connection and oneness. Whatever path you choose, I hope you finally find your happiness and healing. You deserve it 💗. If not now, when?
